gnome-system-log fails to run under Xvnc session

Issue

  • Observing below error while running gnome-system-log within Xvnc session.
# gnome-system-log
No protocol specified

** (logview:30230): WARNING **: Could not open X display

(logview:30230): Gtk-WARNING **: cannot open display:
  • The application fails to start from system menu as well - Applications -> System Tools -> System Log

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • gnome-system-log-3.8.1-5.el7.x86_64
