Jgroups NAKACK messages in the log file of JBoss EAP 6

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP)
    • 6.x

Issue

  • JVM is getting into loop with the below Jgroups NAKACK messages in JBoss EAP 6:
    :
TRACE [org.jgroups.protocols.pbcast.NAKACK] (Incoming-18,shared=tcp) ABC_server0/XYZ_cluster: received ABC_server0/ABC_cluster#139
TRACE [org.jgroups.protocols.pbcast.NAKACK] (Incoming-18,shared=tcp) ABC_server0/ABC_cluster: delivering ABC_server0/ABC_cluster#139
    :

Resolution

  • Reliable Message Transmission ensure that JGroups messages are delivered and delivered in order.
  • Negative Acknowledgement layer (NAKs). Messages are assigned a monotonically increasing sequence number (seqno). Receivers deliver messages ordered according to seqno and request retransmission of missing messages.
  • The TRACE level logging is informing that the messages are sent and received. Generally in production environment, it is not recommended to verbose TRACE level logging.
