Getting "no listening sockets available" error on Apache HTTPD

Issue

  • httpd won't start with "no listening sockets available" error printed on stdout:
# service httpd start
Starting httpd: no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs
  • Getting no listening sockets available, shutting down on JBoss Core Service Apache HTTPD
user@user:/HTTPD_HOME/conf $ /HTTPD_HOME/httpd -f /HTTPD_HOME/conf/eoprt01.conf -k start
no listening sockets available, shutting down
AH00015: Unable to open logs
