RHEL6 Netlink sendto() or ioctl() takes much longer on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6

Issue

  • We noticed an issue with running the following ssh command (and also with tnsping) on our RHEL6.5 hosts that have been patched up to the latest levels. Every second connection was a lot longer than the previous one.
  • This happens on the kernel-2.6.32-504.el6.x86_64 but not the kernel-2.6.32-431.20.3.el6.x86_64.

    • kernel-2.6.32-504.el6.x86_64
  • HP ProLiant DL580 Gen8
  • The hp-ams service
  • The ixgbe driver
