Reinstallation of RHEV Hypervisor fails with "Cannot add Host - unique id is ambiguous with hosts"

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Unable to activate RHEV Hypervisor node after re-installation, even after changing IP & Hostname.
  • The RHEV Manager's rhevm.log contains the error message:

    2012-06-07 17:13:25,252 WARN  [org.ovirt.engine.core.bll.AddVdsCommand] (http-0.0.0.0-8443-1) CanDoAction of action AddVds failed. 
        Reasons:VDS_REGISTER_UNIQUE_ID_AMBIGUOUS,$HostNameList rhev1,VAR__ACTION__ADD,VAR__TYPE__HOST
    
  • RHEVM GUI displays the error message:

    Cannot add Host - unique id is ambiguous with hosts
