Why hawtio is not accessible remotely ?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Fuse
    • 6.1.0

Issue

  • We have installed a Fuse on a Linux box . It starts and comes up fine. We can access the hawtio locally on the same machine. But when we try to access it remotely we cannot do that.
  • The Network administration is of the opinion the they have no port blocked. The firewall is turned off. We also tried to track the telnet trafiic to the address e.g. IPAddress:PortNumber and figured out that the response is "Destination unreachable(Host administratively prohibited)."
  • How to resolve this issue ?

Resolution

  • It does not look like a Hawtio console or Fuse configuration issue. Users need to check if they are able to do telnet to the Host/Port which are opened to the box where the Fuse container is running.
  • Try disabling the iptables for testing.
  • ICMP message says that it can't get to that host. It could be that the switch is configured to not allow that routing or a firewall configuration issue. Contact Operating System or Network Admin.
