Why does anaconda tarpayload not extract extended filesystem attributes in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1 ?

Issue

  • Anaconda uses tar command to extract tarpayloads specified by liveimg --url=http://abc.com/root.tar.gz. However tar doesn't use all the options necessary to extract the tar balls with extended attributes.
  • One need to use --xattrs-include='*' with the tar command to extract the files with extended attributes. The upstream bug 1195462 is filed as well.
  • Can this be fixed in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7?
