RTNETLINK answers: Operation not permitted on RHEL 6 and z-linux s390x

Issue

  • After the last LPAR IPL(reboot) the interfaces are unable to come up, the error that comes up is as follows:
Bringing up loopback interface:  [  OK  ]                              
Bringing up interface eth0:                                            
[  OK  ]                                                               
Bringing up interface eth1:  RTNETLINK answers: Operation not permitted
Failed to bring up eth1.                                               
[FAILED]
