camel-ruby throughput is much lower in Fuse 6.1 than it was in previous versions

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

The camel-ruby component allows Camel routes to execute Ruby scripting language statements. A simple example is:

.to("language:ruby:puts $request.body;result = $request.body")

However, the throughput of such script execution is 3-40 times slower on Fuse 6.1 (using Camel 2.12.0) than it was on earlier Fuse releases.

Attempts to work around this reduced throughput by executing Ruby script operations in parallel are subject to a concurrency bug described in ENTESB-2274 (fixed in Fuse 6.3).
