Issue

CUPS is unresponsive. Running a command like "lpadmin -a" results in the message:

#lpadmin -a 
lpstat: Service Unavailable

The system messages file (/var/log/messages) contains the following entry:

kernel: cupsd[5866]: segfault at 0 ip 00007fc4fced6120 sp 00007fff6ea93a70 error 6 in cupsd[7fc4fce99000+69000]

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.7
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.4.2-72.el6 or earlier
