Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Different shell scripts are causing intermittent core dumps. The issue is not consistent but once it appears the core files will be produced until the file system fills up.
  • Process /bin/ksh93 was killed by signal 11 when making call using /bin/ksh from DB2/GPFS.
  • We have random ksh93 core dumps when running shell scripts. These core dumps are mainly observed when function calls another function in $( ) or when function runs system tool (e.g. /usr/bin/id) in $( ) to catch its output.
  • Random ksh93 core dumps.
