The Satellite 5.7 upgarde added incorrect hostnames in jabber configuration files, causing osa-diapatcher and jabber services failing

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • The Satellite 5.7 upgrade procedure added localhost entries in jabber configuration files as below,
Old configuration file,

# less jabberd/jabberd/c2s.xml.old
    <id realm='' require-starttls='true' pemfile='/etc/jabberd/server.pem'>localhost.localdomain</id>
    <!-- or
    <id realm='satellite.example.com'

New configuration file,

# less jabberd/jabberd/sm.xml.old
<sm>
  <!-- Our ID on the network. Users will have this as the domain part of
       their JID. If you want your server to be accessible from other
       Jabber servers, this ID must be FQDN resolvable by DNSes -->
  <id>localhost.localdomain</id>
