After patching the multipathd service segfaults on start in RHEL6

Issue

Seeing "multipathd dead but pid file exists" on service start after update to multipath.

# service multipathd start
Starting multipathd daemon:                                [  OK  ]
# service multipathd status
multipathd dead but pid file exists

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • device-mapper-multipath-0.4.9-80.el6_6.1
  • device-mapper-multipath-0.4.9-80.el6_6.2
  • device-mapper < 1.02.79-9.el6
