Why does ntpd fail to start with error "Command line arguments not allowed" ?

Issue

  • Why does the ntpd service not starting on boot?
  • When starting ntpd, getting following error message.
Starting ntpd: ntpd: Command line arguments not allowed
ntpd - NTP daemon program - Ver. 4.2.4p8
USAGE:  ntpd [ -<flag> [<val>] | --<name>[{=| }<val>] ]...
Options are specified by doubled hyphens and their name
or by a single hyphen and the flag character.
