Time-Drift issues being observed when NMI watchdog is enabled for virtual machines running on RHEV

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Whenever divider=10 notsc kernel parameter are set, The VM receives NMI errors on bootup.
  • If these parameters are removed - The NMI errors are not observed.
  • But these parameters are necessary to prevent the Time-Drift issue on the VM.
  • Since moving from RHEV 2.2 to 3.0 now seeing virtual machines time drift.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux guests
