How can I diagnose and prevent resource operation failures in a RHEL 5 or 6 High Availability cluster with rgmanager?

Issue

  • A resource failed a status check in my cluster. How can I figure out what happened?
  • Is there a way to diagnose resource operation failures in a high availability cluster?
  • In my logs I see resources reporting "generic error". What does this mean?
Dec 21 14:37:26 rhel6-node1 rgmanager[28039]: status on script "script1" returned 1 (generic error)

Dec 21 16:01:01 rhel5-node1 clurgmgrd[24602]: <notice> status on ip "192.168.143.187/24" returned 1 (generic error)
  • clustat shows a resource as failed.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 or 6 with the High Availability Add On
  • rgmanager
