Problems using Smooks transformation in Switchyard project

Issue

We have a Switchyard project which uses several Smooks transformations (containing FreeMarker code) and all but one transformation works as they should. When running the non-working transformation I get the following error:

Caused by: freemarker.template.TemplateModelException: Can't try to resolve the XML query key, because no XPath support is available. It's either malformed or an XPath expression: 
//person/language

What is the best way of adding XPath support for all my Switchyard projects? Is this already available but needs to be enabled?
