Should my RHEL High Availability Cluster nodes all be running the same RPM package releases?

Issue

  • Do I need all my packages to match across RHEL High Availability nodes?
  • I need to update my nodes one-at-a-time in a rolling fashion and may have to run with mismatched packages installed across nodes for some time. Will Red Hat support this cluster while the packages are out of sync?
  • I need to update an RPM on a cluster node, but don't want to update it across all nodes. Will this cause any problems for the cluster?
