Hostname is not set during kickstart using DHCP

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The --hostname argument to the network option in a kickstart file does not work when combined with --bootproto=dhcp. The hostname request isn't being sent to the DHCP server which is configured for DDNS.
  • Installation do not work when set a short hostname for --hostname argument

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.4 and earlier
  • Anaconda
  • DHCP server configured for DDNS
