LVM is using an underlying /dev/sd* SCSI device path as a physical volume instead of the /dev/emcpower* device it belongs to in RHEL
Issue
- EMC power devices for VG are getting replaced with respective OS native devices randomly whenever server reboots.
- LVM picks up underlying SCSI paths as physical volumes instead of using the
emcpowerdevice - Logical volumes are getting mapped to a path instead of the
PowerPathdevice - We had a path failure but I/O wasn't routed to the other path in the
PowerPathdevice
Environment
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4, 5, 6, and 7
- LVM2
- EMC
PowerPath - One or more logical volumes are mapped to a path instead of to the
emcpowerdevice (see Diagnostic Steps to determine if this is true)
