JBDS 8 Workbench crashes with error "Assertion `!_button._widget' failed" while rendering a combobox

Issue

  • This issue affects the JBoss Developer Studio (JBDS) version 8.0.0. The problem occurs with a fresh new installed JBDS 8.0.0. where the workbench crashes if a user selects either Window -> Preferences -> General -> Network Connections or -> Editors -> Text Editors -> Annotations or any other entry which contains a combo box.
  • The error message on console is displayed as.
java: /build/buildd/gtk2-engines-oxygen-1.4.5/src/animations/oxygencomboboxdata.cpp:87: void Oxygen::ComboBoxData::setButton(GtkWidget*): Assertion `!_button._widget' failed.
  • JBoss Developer Studio (JBDS) 7.x doesn't have this issue and works fine.
  • The O.S. platform is Ubuntu 14.04 with the latest KDE 4.13.3.
