Issue

  • Unable to mount CIFS share from ReadyNAS (NAS box) in RHEL 7 which shows the below error messages,
[root@localhost ~]# mount -t cifs -o username=testuser,file_mod=0755,dir_mod=0755,sec=ntlm  //<NAS_IPADDRESS>/cifs\ test  /cifs-test
Password for testuser@//<NAS_IPADDRESS>/cifs\ test:  ************
mount error(22): Invalid argument        <<==========
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

Environment

  • ReadyNAS (NAS box from netgear)
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.0
  • kernel 3.10.0-123.el7.x86_64
  • cifs-utils 6.2-6.el7.x86_64
