Suspending vi with sudo -- unable to resume

Issue

  • Resuming a suspended sudo vi process always fails.
  • Problem is seen after the sudo package updated to sudo-1.7.4p5-9.el6_2
  • Steps to reproduce:
$ sudo vi /tmp/foo
<hit ^Z inside of `vi` and then resume using `fg`>
$ fg
  • Earlier version of pacakge (sudo-1.7.4p5-7.el6) is not affected

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
  • sudo-1.7.4p5-9.el6_2
