Issue

  • Kernel not dropping bad UDP checksum packets
  • The system receives packets with a bad UDP checksum, these are not dropped, and corrupt data is delivered into application buffers

Environment

  • RHEL 5.10 (kernel-2.6.18-371.8.1.el5)
  • System just updated from RHEL 5.8 (kernel-2.6.18-308.el5)
  • Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme II BCM5709 Gigabit Ethernet controller (bnx2 driver)
