browser.cache.disk.parent_directory configuration setting not persisting in Firefox

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • There is a setting in Firefox's about:config called browser.cache.disk.parent_directory. Changing this setting should result in the cache files for Firefox being written out to the specified directory. Instead, cache always shows up in the user's home directory (Firefox's default location) and the value doesn't seem to get written out to the prefs.js file.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 running Firefox 10
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 running Firefox 10
