Satellite 6: Error when adding RH Common repository RHEL 5.9 and earlier "RuntimeError... not valid substitutions"

Environment

Red Hat Satellite 6 server
Client systems at Red Hat Enterprise Linux updates 5.8 or 5.9

Issue

On Satellite 6, when try to add "Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server - RH Common RPMs i386 5.9" it errors out.This also happens for RHEL version 5.8

Exception:
RuntimeError: {"basearch"=>"i386", "releasever"=>"5.9"} are not valid substitutions for /content/dist/rhel/server/5/$releasever/$basearch/rh-common/os

Resolution

Do not set Release Version to RHEL 5.9 or other 5.X releases for subscription-manager if wish to use Red Hat Common repository on a RHEL 5 client system.
Instead keep the Release Version set to 5Server to ensure the client has the latest versions of the Red Hat Common packages available.

Root Cause

Red Hat repository (rh-common) was added after Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.10, and not available for RHEL 5.8 or 5.9 client systems who have their Release Version set to 5.8 or 5.9 in subscription-manager configuration

And what about RHEL 6.4, is it the same root cause ? rh-common got release after 6.4 ?

Hello Zied,
The Satellite 6 packages would not be available in the RHEL 6.4 RH common repository, because Satellite 6 wasn't released until after RHEL 6.5.
