The "-i any" option of tcpdump doesn't operate as expected.

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • When using tcpdump command with "-i any" option, and using bonding interface(mode is active-standby), tcpdump output isn't expected.
  • Output of TX packet is duplicate, but Output of RX packet isn't duplicate. Our customer expects both outputs is duplicate.

  • So, They have two questions.

    1. Which is the interface that captured the RX packet? (ethX? or bondX?)
    2. Why isn't output of RX packet duplicate?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
