How can one prevent to get /boot partition formatted with 64bit flag on MAC hardware resulted in non-bootable system on dual boot MAC+RHEL7?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • On already installed MAC OSX, installed Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 (dual boot) using mactel-boot which is not supported by Red Hat but helps to get Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 installed on MAC hardware using HFS+ filesystem.
  • The RHEL7 installer has formatted the ext4 partitions with the -o Feature Flag 64bit with mk2fs.
  • This flag can prevent certain boot loaders (like rEFInd) from reading the partition as the ext4 driver cannot cope.
  • How can one prevent that and how can this get worked and bootable?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
  • MAC hardware
