missing directory /emergency in initrd

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

There is an issue with directory /emergency in initrd created by standard RHEL6.5.

During initrd processing the server complains that the following files can not be created:

/emergency/01-die.sh
/emergency/90-lvm.sh

It supposed to be used for placing some hooks in emergency cases, however those could not be created during processing as the /emergency directory is not present.
The following dracut configuration is used:

  • /etc/dracut.conf.d/default.conf:
omit_dracutmodules+="redhat-i18n plymouth xen btrfs crypt dmraid dmsquash-live mdraid multipath dasd dasd_mod uswsusp zfcp terminfo znet syslog resume"
  • /etc/dracut.conf:
[root@host]#  install local /etc/mdadm.conf
mdadmconf="yes"
[root@host]#  install local /etc/lvm/lvm.conf
lvmconf="yes"

The error is produced from initrd from file: /cmdline/30parse-lvm.sh.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.5
