Multipath errors "user defined alias 'mpathX' clashes with user_friendly_names"

Issue

  • After updating/installing the new kernel and booting with the same, following multipath errors are seen:

    user defined alias 'mpath0' clashes with user_friendly_names.
    This can cause corruption. Change this alias in /etc/multipath.conf
    to avoid corruption
    user defined alias 'mpath1' clashes with user_friendly_names.
    This can cause corruption. Change this alias in /etc/multipath.conf
    to avoid corruption
    user defined alias 'mpath2' clashes with user_friendly_names.
    This can cause corruption. Change this alias in /etc/multipath.conf
