Modifying listen_addresses in the postgresql.conf used by a postgres-8 resource does not result in that instance listening on the specified address in a RHEL 5 or 6 High Availability cluster with rgmanager

Solution Unverified - Updated -

  • The postgresql configuration file in /etc/cluster/postgres-8 does not get automatically updated when the master copy is changed.
  • If I change my postgres configuration file to have a new listen_address, the next time the service is started postgres isn't listening on that address
  • Why is the listen_addresses line from my postgresql.conf specified in the postgres-8 resource's config_file attribute commented out in the cluster-generated version?

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 with the High Availability Add On
  • rgmanager
  • One or more postgres-8 resources
