Creating new subnet on Satellite 6 WebUI does not update /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf file

Issue

  • Created new subnet on Satellite WebUI but it does not update /etc/dhcp/dhcpd.conf file.

Resolution

  • This behavior is expected and normal.
  • The subnet resources stored in Satellite are not for management of DHCP servers, this should be done by the user. There are many ways to do so, including manually. They exist for the purposes of associating a host via a subnet to a smart proxy.
  • To perform this manually edit /etc/dhcpd/dhcpd.conf file on Red Hat Satellite 6 server and add the subnet scope manually.

Root Cause

  • The subnet resources stored in Satellite are not for management of DHCP servers.
