Excessive logging on java.lang.StackOverflowError with EJB3 serialization

Issue

I am getting excessive java.lang.StackOverflowError logging which is running into several GB of disk space during EJB3 session passivation.
When my application experiences StackOverflowError, the server log explodes with gigabytes of logs. How can I fix this?
