Dependencies specified in MANIFEST.MF are ignored in EAP 6

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • An application component depends on access to Oracle classes included in the Oracle JDBC JAR deployed as a JBoss module
  • In an application JAR (e.g. an EJB JAR), Dependencies are declared explicitly in a simple MANIFEST.MF (referencing the JBoss module name)
Manifest-Version: 1.0
Class-Path:
Dependencies: com.oracle.jdbc
  • At runtime, code using the Oracle classes fails with a java.lang.ClassNotFoundException

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6
