Why does "sysctl -p /etc/sysctl.d/*" ignore all files but the first one in RHEL6?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When I run sysctl -p /etc/sysctl.d/* only the first file in directory /etc/sysctl.d is processed by sysctl and the remaining files in that directory are ignored.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.
  • procps package version 3.2.8-30.el6 or earlier.
