Unable to start rpcbind service

Issue

  • Unable to start rpcbind service with: 
 # service rpcbind start
 # /etc/init.d/rpcbind start
  • The command appears to run but does not perform anything.
  • The rpcbind service does not start on boot.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6
