Red Hat network proxy: log files like log.0000000001.gz in /var/lib/jabberd/db consuming space

Issue

  • On our Red Hat Network Proxy, log files like log.0000000001.gz in /var/lib/jabberd/db consume many GB of space
  • We have a satellite proxy server and there is a Directory called /var/lib/jabberd/db. Inside this directory there are over 1000 files called log.000000* all created within the last 6 months

-rw-r----- 1 jabber jabber  1157963 Apr  4 08:01 log.0000000007.gz
-rw-r----- 1 jabber jabber  1153322 Apr  4 10:21 log.0000000008.gz

These are consuming more than 6G of space and I would like to clear them down.
