Start operation executed on Managed Server resource fails

Issue

  • Start operation executed as alert notification for Managed Server resource fails and recovery alert is not fired;
  • When Host Controller goes down and stays down for certain time period, the alerts will be properly triggered for both Host Controller and it's Managed Server resources, but start operation that should be executed on both Host Controller and Managed Server resource will be successful only for Host Controller;

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Operations Network (JON) 3.1.2
  • Red Hat Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6 in Domain Mode;
  • One server instance defined in the host.xml file with flag auto-start set to false
  • "Alert - Controller Down" defined on EAP Domain Controller:

    • Conditions: Availability Duration [Stays Down For 10 m]
    • Notifications: Resource Operations - 'Start this host controller' on this resource
    • Recovery: Disable When Fired: Yes
  • "Recovery - Controller Down" defined on EAP Domain Controller:

    • Conditions: Availability [Goes up]
    • Recovery: Recover Alert: Alert - Controller Down
  • "Alert - Managed Server Down" defined for Managed Servers resources:

    • Conditions: Availability Duration [Stays Down For 10 m]
    • Notifications: Resource Operations - 'Start' on this resource
    • Recovery: Disable When Fired: Yes
  • "Recovery - Managed Server Down" defined for Managed Servers resources:

    • Conditions: Availability [Goes up]
    • Recovery: Recover Alert: Alert - Managed Server Down
