LVM resource fails to start with "Not activating <volume> since it does not pass activation filter" in RHEL 6 with pacemaker

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • Starting an LVM resource with HA-LVM and tagging using pacemaker fails
  • When I debug-start an LVM resource, it says "Not activating since it does not pass activation filter"
# pcs resource debug-start haVG
Operation start for haVG (ocf:heartbeat:LVM) returned 1
 > stderr: LVM[3188]: INFO: Activating volume group haVG
 > stderr: LVM[3188]: INFO: Reading all physical volumes. This may take a while... Found volume group "haVG" using metadata type lvm2
 > stderr: LVM[3188]: ERROR: Not activating haVG/lv1 since it does not pass activation filter. 0 logical volume(s) in volume group "haVG" now active

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 with the High Availability Add On
  • resource-agents-3.9.2-7.el6
  • HA-LVM using tagging
    • One or more LVM resources defined with exclusive=true
    • Volume group does not have the clustered attribute set
