Why is an extra slash being appended to URL when proxying over HTTP via mod_proxy or mod_cluster?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • An extra slash being appended to URL when proxying to EAP via mod_cluster or mod_proxy.
  • When proxying through mod_cluster to JBoss we are seeing an extra / appended to contexts when we try and navigate to them. For example, http://example.com/test would end up being http://example.com//test/. Is this a bug?

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss Web Server (EWS)
    • 2.x
  • JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) 6.x
  • mod_cluster
  • mod_proxy
