- With Capsule Servers, you can extend the reach and scalability of your Satellite deployment.
- Capsule Servers provide the functionality of mirroring content from Satellite Server to establish content sources in various geographical or logical locations. By registering a host to a Capsule Server, you can configure this host to receive content and configuration from the Capsule in their location instead of from the central Satellite Server.
- The Red Hat Satellite Capsule Server is a Satellite component that provides federated services to discover, provision, and configure hosts outside of the primary Red Hat Satellite 6 server. A Satellite Capsule Server provides the following features:
Feature A:
Pulp Server features, including:
- Repository synchronization
- Content delivery
- Puppet Master server
- Puppet CA to manage certificate signing and cleaning
- Discovery
Feature B:
Red Hat Satellite Provisioning Smart Proxy features, including:
- DHCP, including ISC DHCP servers
- DNS, including Bind and MS DNS servers
- Any UNIX-based TFTP server
