Cluster resource fails to start and no error is logged when that resource is a child of a global resource that is referenced in multiple services in a RHEL 6 High Availability cluster

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • When a service group consisting of at least an IP resource and another resource as a child of that IP resource, is started the child resource doesn't start even though the service group shows at started
  • I have a service with a referenced resource that's shared with another service, and when I start the service that resource's children don't get started
  • When I start a service or resource with rg_test, I see "Warning: Max references exceeded for resource address (type ip)"

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6 with the High Availability Add On
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 5 with the High Availability Add On
  • rgmanager
  • One or more global resources in the <resources/> section of /etc/cluster/cluster.conf that are referenced from multiple services
