Cannot print a reverse portrait with CUPS in RHEL 6

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • I want to print a reverse portrait with lp command (CUPS). I use this command:

    lp -d PRINTER_NAME -o orientation-requested=6 file.pdf

This command prints but not rotate the page by 180°, the printed page looks the same as if I had omitted the -o orientation-requested=6 option.

  • I cannot print a PDF file upside down so it matches the way the paper is fed into the printer.
  • We would like to know if RHEL 6 CUPS has support for paper rotation. We have a need to rotate the print job 180 degrees, as the paper is fed in that way.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 6)
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) 1.4.2
