JmsGatewayListener throws ERROR "Action class method <process> returned a null object" while trying to post an XML message (TextMessage)

Issue

The ESB application is designed to receive message via a JMS gateway. It gives the following ERROR when we try to post an XML message (TextMessage) using a spring-jmstemplate client. However, when we post a message using a simple JMS client code it works fine.

[org.jboss.soa.esb.listeners.gateway.JmsGatewayListener] Action class method <process> returned a null object

Can you please advice what is going wrong here?
