In RHEL, check-printing jobs print partially, then the printer hangs

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

When printing jobs from an application, the printer will correctly print "X" number of checks (and "X" is never a consistent number), & then hang up. The printer says "processing" and must be power-cycled to clear the message. The printer is an HP LaserJet m602 with a Troy Security add-on that allows it to print checks.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.4
  • Common Unix Printing System (CUPS)
  • HP LaserJet m602 with a Troy Security add-on
