How to export a repository and import into another Business Central in JBoss B*MS 6?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Environment

  • Red Hat JBoss BRMS (BRMS)
    • 6.x
  • Red Hat JBoss BPM Suite (BPMS)
    • 6.x

Issue

  • How to export an entire repository from one Business Central instance to another one? While exporting, does it include the model jar file also that was uploaded into the source Business Central instance?
  • what is the proper procedure to back up Business Central repository, not only the assets but also the packages, projects etc.

Resolution

  • In this current use-case the suggested way to achieve both the requirements would be to copy the .niogit directory from jboss-eap-6.1/bin (default)location of the source BRMS/BPMS installation and use it in the target BRMS/BPMS installation. Once it is done users can see the new repository being imported, but users might not see the Maven artifacts which were imported into the source BRMS/BPMS repository.
  • This first activity can also be achieved using the Clone Repository feature of Business Central , however it requires the user to have an admin role. But, note that it still can't clone the Maven artifacts stored in Business Central , like kjar and other uploaded artifacts.
  • In order to import those Maven artifacts of Business Central users would need to copy and paste the jboss-eap-6.1/bin/repositories/ folder too in order to see the Maven artifacts which are uploaded to the repository.
