Why does active bond show wrong speed in `/proc/net/bonding/bond` for netxen_nic driver?

Issue

  • Bonding driver is showing wrong speed in the logs and /proc/net/bonding/bond0 file on with NetXen Incorporated NX3031 NIC.
  • When netxen_nic driver is used, on HP DL580G7. The bond proc entry /proc/net/bonding/bond* shows incorrect interface speed as 100Mbps instead of 1000Mbps or 1Gbps.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8 and below;
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2 and below;
  • NetXen Incorporated NX3031 Multifunction 1/10-Gigabit Server Adapter
