Is it possible to run apache as a non-root user?

Issue

  • For some customers it's not necessary to run Apache as root since they use ports > 1024 (unprivileged ports) and thus do not expose Apache to possible security threats.
  • I have installed Apache server and by default it is running as root, I would like to run this as non root user
