BRMS 6 workbench does not render some of the panels properly on IE 8

Issue

It has been observed that the BRMS 6 Workbench does not render some panels properly on IE 8 . When pulling up the Project Authoring page the project explorer section on the left side of the page doesn’t render. Without this section it is not possible to see any of the artifacts in the repository. Is there any known workaround to get the workbench to render properly in IE 8 ?
