Why does spacewalk-hostname-rename script takes hostname from system environment ?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • The spacewalk-hostname-rename script depends on hostname set in /proc/sys/kernel/hostname file. Instead why hostname -f is not used as it gives FQDN. The man page mentions,
# man hostname
-f, --fqdn, --long
Display the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name). A FQDN consists of a short host name and the DNS domain name.
  • From where spacewalk-hostname-rename script takes hostname to regenerate SSL public certificate ?
